Artsy Car Repair

Emma found the warehouse by accident. She had been out on her daily stroll around her beautiful suburb when the looming structure had given her pause. Its broken windows and sagging roof did little to deter her from entering.

To her delight, it turned out to be a treasure trove of discarded machinery. Among the dust and rubble, she discovered an abandoned vehicle. The neglected pickup truck was in dire need of some tender love and maintenance. Its engine seemed okay, but the vehicle made a strange noise as she tried to turn the key in the ignition.

Luckily, she knew a group of the best mechanics close to Toowoomba. With their help and some personal elbow grease, she was able to get the car running again. That wasn’t enough for her, though. Emma was, at her heart, an artist. She wanted to share the truck with her community, considering it was now a forgotten relic of their past.

With the paintwork fixed, she had a new canvas on which to work. With a few weeks of hard work, the car had been turned into a moving mural of the suburb’s rich community. It was even elected to be part of the Garden City’s annual carnival of flowers.

She decided the truck had to have a touch of whimsy. With the help of the mechanics, they fine-tuned a diesel tuning system that would turn the engine into a musical instrument. As it rolled through town, playing a symphony for the audience, the day seemed brighter.

What was once an abandoned piece of junk to be destroyed, had been renewed with life. With a general service and regular maintenance, it had been given a second chance. It came to be known as the Garden Truck. To this day, it stands in the middle of the suburb, updated yearly with new art to commemorate the new year.

Glass Testing Job

Once upon a time in Melbourne, a rather ordinary woman named Sarah lived a rather ordinary life. In a drab office job, she spent her days managing spreadsheets and struggling to keep her eyes open through endless meetings. But her mundane existence left her yearning for something more, something thrilling.

During a dreary afternoon, while sipping her lukewarm coffee and scrolling through the local classifieds on her lunch break, an ad caught her eye. “Help pioneer the future! Test experimental glass at WindoSolutions Labs!” it read. Intrigued by the promise of something more exciting than data entry and eager for a change, Sarah signed up, silently hoping she had just stumbled upon an adventure.

Days later, Sarah walked through the impressive doors of WindoSolutions Labs, a renowned commercial window tinting business offering service in Melbourne. The building was a marvel, its exterior a jigsaw of artistically designed decorative glass. She’d never seen anything quite like it.

Inside, Sarah found herself immersed in the bustling heart of a company teetering on the brink of innovation. Colourful window tinting danced with shades of the rainbow under the bright sunlight, while employees hurried around with an infectious energy, their enthusiasm starkly contrasting with the grey, lifeless office she was used to.

She was introduced to the company’s new venture: ‘portal glass’, a revolutionary technology that promised to transport a person from one piece of glass to another in the blink of an eye. Initially taken aback but unwilling to back down from a challenge, she signed the requisite paperwork, steeling herself for the extraordinary venture.

As she was guided through the premises by an overly enthusiastic employee named Fred, he let slip some comments that should have set off alarm bells. “Mind you, the last tester got a bit… stuck. But we’ve ironed out the kinks! Probably.” He chuckled nervously.

Sarah dismissed the unease creeping up her spine, convincing herself that Fred was just bad at making jokes. But as she stepped into the testing area, an ominous feeling washed over her. This was no ordinary job, and she was about to find out just how far from ordinary her life was about to become.

Distorted Glass Visions

In the pulsing heart of Melbourne, digital artist Riley found solace and inspiration in her high-rise apartment. There, she had all the inspiration she could ever need. Her modern home was a testament to the creative design possibilities of glass, thanks to the wide range of expert residential glazing services in the Melbourne area.

Her favourite feature was the glass balustrade enclosing her balcony. It was a shining beacon of excellent glass craftsmanship. The balustrade had been expertly put in place by a trusted business for glass balustrade installation near Melbourne. The clear balustrade allowed uninterrupted views of the bustling cityscape, often serving as the backdrop for her imaginative digital art projects.

But recently, her glassy sanctuary began to betray her.

The clear glass surfaces subtly twisted her reality. Reflections warped, edges blurred, and familiar colours inverted. The slight distortions slowly amplified into terrifying visions that lurked in every pane. Initially, Riley chalked it up to stress, an artist’s imagination running wild, or perhaps the toll of sleepless nights spent working on her projects.

As the distortions became more severe, they escalated from disconcerting to downright horrifying. The glass of her apartment, once a source of inspiration, now became a canvas for fear. Her once-beloved views of Melbourne transformed into grotesque scenes within the warped reflections.

One afternoon, in an attempt to escape her mounting dread, Riley stepped onto her balcony. She hoped the familiar city view behind the glass balustrade might offer some comfort. But instead, the Melbourne skyline in the reflection twisted and writhed into monstrous shapes. The skies morphed into a swirling vortex of crimson, a terrifying vision that shook her to her core.

Staggering back into her apartment, Riley’s mind spun as she tried to process what she had seen. The peaceful sanctuary she had built, with the help of expert residential glazing services, now felt like a haunting maze of terrifying reflections.

Riley found herself on edge, dreading what new horror the glass might reveal. Was it her mind playing tricks, or was there something more sinister hidden in the glass around her? Determined to find answers, Riley steeled herself for the daunting challenge ahead. As she gazed into a glass surface, her reflection grinned back, the image escalating her fear to new, terrifying heights.

Steel Stacking, Splendid

It’s not that I LIKE Lizard’s Lair. It’s just that it happens to be one of the only things that’s actually on while I’m having dinner that I can stomach. You’d think the prime-time evening slot would be just rife with viewing goodness, but nope. It is not. So I started watching Lizard’s Lair, and I guess we have a weird relationship where I don’t like it but I see it every day anyway, as a matter of…ordinary life time-filling. So, just like my daily staff meetings in the office.

Tonight brought a flurry of contenders, but I was rooting for the skinny guy with glasses who wanted to revolutionise steel fabrication companies in Melbourne. He looked like an intellectual sort, which on Lizard’s Lair means one thing: terrible at pitching, but they have a good idea behind them. Plus the kinder-hearted members of the panel usually take pity at all the stuttering.

This champion of steel beams and lintels was pretty much exactly that. All straightening his specs and pulling up the sleeves of his jumper, which were way too long for his arms. But apparently he’s been walking to steel suppliers around the Melbourne area and he’s identified a problem with the way tubing is stacked. Currently, to make the loads safe, you have to go through a painstaking loading process. But this guy has invented an automated machine that’ll do it all for you, slotting all those pieces of steel tubing onto whatever’s transporting them in exactly the same way, very time.

Maybe that’s why I appreciate Lizard’s Lair slightly more. I’m learning something here, even if it just comes from peeking through a window into the companies that sell steel tubing in Melbourne and not something I’m going to use. Well…I might. Have to keep watching. And if I watch long enough, maybe I’ll go on the show with my own brilliant idea and get fifty grand in investments like Mr Steel over there.

Ute Proposal

After what felt like several minutes of stunned silence, Rylee managed to pull her mouth back open. “Marry you? But it’s been so long… We’ve changed so much!”

To his credit, Cole didn’t seem upset at her hesitancy. Of course, she’d have reservations after so long. Also to his credit, he’d stayed in that same position, down on one knee, barely even breathing, the entire time she’d been in shock. It was almost eerie.

Cole sat beside her, resting the ring between them. “I know it has been a while,” he said. “But the truth is, I love you even more than I did on the day we parted. I don’t care if you’ve changed. I understand if you want to slow things down, but I also want you to know where I stand. I’m ready to pick up where we left off, if you are. I’ll quit the real estate business and start offering 4×4 alumimium canopies for sale. You know that’s my true passion.”

Thor’s hammer struck an anvil in her chest. Was he really willing to do that? Was she? Cole had been all she’d ever wanted. Now he was back, and technically they were still engaged anyway. With everything that had happened in the world, maybe she deserved to settle down with the one she loved.

“That’s not all,” Cole continued. “I’ll be busy with my new job, obviously. Businesses selling ute toolboxes close to Melbourne don’t build themselves, after all. I’d be even busier, though, since we’d probably want to move in here. There’s a lot to fix up.”

“Here?”

Cole nodded. “When my grandparents passed away, they gave this place to me in their will. Sure, it requires a lot of work, but it’s ours if you want it. We could make this a real home. What do you say?”

Rylee thought she knew what she wanted, but how could she be sure? She supposed that with these things, one never could be sure with complete certainty. Perhaps it required a leap of faith.

“Let’s do it,” she said.

As the words came out of her mouth, she knew she had made the right decision.

Entering A Solar Agreement

I love this planet!! It’s such a beautiful place to live, no matter where you’re located in the world. Every continent, every country, every provenance has a unique element of beauty that can’t be found anywhere else. You could be on a beach in Australia or in the Swiss Alps and be wowed by a completely different type of beauty, with one not being more beautiful than the other.

I’m sure you’re wondering why my love for the planet is worth writing about. Well, it’s worth writing about because the planet is dying! There’s all this stuff being said around climate change and the desperate actions we need to take to be able to enjoy our planet for the years to come.

One of the big things we have to do is start relying on solar energy. A case study founded that solar energy will help increase the lifespan of our planet by so many years. I can’t remember the exact number but it was big and it will help to ensure that our children and our children’s children can walk the planet like we are still able to. If we don’t the planet will get too hot for them to safely explore it. That would be such a tragedy.

The next thing we have to do is create a worldwide legal solar lease agreement that states everyone in the world must be using solar energy by a certain date. The first world countries must agree to help the smaller countries and dedicate time and resources to bring the rest of the world up to speed.

We have a long way to go to help combat the effects of climate change, but the report has proven that we can do it. If the entire world bands together we should be able to create a better life for the people who come after us. I really hope that we can.

Personalised Orthotics

So I spoke to the foot specialist about my potential Plantar Fasciitis and she confirmed my suspicions. She said it’s common in people who have spent long periods of time off their feet and then start putting a lot of repeated pressure on them. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what I did.

I told her that I want to get on top of it as soon as possible, seeing as it’s already July and I want to run a half marathon by December. She recommended that I get some semi custom orthotics made up for me. They only need to be semi custom because my Plantar Fasciitis is mild, thank the Lord. I asked her to measure my feet and mould the orthotics on the spot. I wasn’t going to waste any time of my recovery.

She got them made up and it took them about a week to arrive in the mail. In that time, she gave me plenty of exercises to do to try and help ease the pain and speed up the recovery process. It’s definitely helped, which I’m happy about. However, I’m not allowed to run as far as I did last time whilst I am trying to help my feet recover. I am only allowed to run short distances, rather than running 12km straight off the bat. I’ve learnt my lesson.

I’m worried that because I’m going to be wearing custom orthotics all the time now, I’m going to develop fungal nail infections. In the Cheltenham area, there are plenty of beaches around, which makes it a breeding ground for fungal infections and the like. If I go for a swim in the beach in between my interval runs and then put my runners and orthotics back on, I could genuinely have a serious problem.

This might be me getting a bit worried for no reason, but I’ve just suffered so many setbacks that I can’t deal with the possibility of another one. My mind is spiralling.

Flower Decorations

My flower decoration surprise was an absolute success! My girlfriend woke up this morning to a stunning display of flowers, covering the walls of our hotel room from the floor to the ceiling. After I decorated the hotel room, I rested on the bed until my girlfriend woke up. She truly is a very heavy sleeper, seeing as she didn’t even flinch when I accidentally dropped a bouquet of flowers everywhere. I laughed to myself when I was sure that she wasn’t awake and called them ground cover roses in my head. I’m always making myself laugh.

She was facing me when her eyes fluttered open around 9 am. She woke up so peacefully that my heart danced at the sight of her. Once she had stopped looking at me, her eyes widened. She noticed that the colours on the walls were different and that there was a different texture to them. When her sleepy eyes adjusted to the beginning of the day, she realised that our entire hotel bedroom was covered in roses. The moment was romantic, to say the least.

I then offered to cook her breakfast and so she came into the kitchen area with me. She was stunned to see climbing roses growing all over the walls. She actually cried and told me how incredible I am. She said she’s going to love me forever and said that she can’t wait until we spend the rest of our lives together. I embraced her and told her that I feel the exact same way. I love this girl with all my heart.

It’s unlikely that I’ll ever find someone as special as my girlfriend. I know I do the majority of the woo-ing and making the other person feel special, but it’s because she doesn’t even need to try. She makes me feel special just by smiling at me. I think on our next holiday I am going to one-up myself and propose.

Sold On Solar

Solar energy? Have you heard about solar energy? I hadn’t heard about it before today, but let me tell you, I’m really sold on the idea. It’s absolutely genius if you ask me. As a kid, I’d always wondered why we wouldn’t use that giant ball of fire in the sky to power everything in the world. That makes a lot more sense than getting power from coal, or all that super-advanced science that leaves everyone all irradiated. Those do not seem like good ideas. In my opinion, we should have been using solar power the entire time.

I’ve been researching this stuff all morning. I’m learning about plenty of new things. For example, did you know that there are businesses offering commercial battery storage services, which allow you to store solar energy? That’s genius. The only thing that I don’t understand is how they convert solar beams into electricity. I can’t find anything about it online. It’s like the whole thing is magic! Now, I know that you have to get these special panels installed, which come in all sorts of sizes depending on what kind of system you need. You could get a 30KW solar system or a 50KW one. There are plenty of other options, too. What I mean is that I don’t understand how solar panels turn the actual sunlight into power.

Today, I ordered some solar panels from a business called Wizard Power, and their website didn’t explain the process at all. They literally described it as magic. So, as far as I understand it, some wizard magically enhances the panels so that they absorb the sunlight, and boom, all of a sudden you have electricity. I suppose that makes about as much sense as splitting an atom. I don’t have to understand it, though. Personally, I’m just happy to be helping the environment through my sustainable energy choice. Go me!

Ute Upgrade

The boys at work love my ute canopy! As soon as I drove up to the worksite, I saw at least ten of them turn their heads. I even heard a couple of gasps. My closest mates ran up to my ute to check it out and they were genuinely in awe of the premium quality of the ute canopy. I’m the most popular guy on the worksite this morning.

I was talking to all the boys on smoko and they were quizzing me on where I got such high-quality aluminium ute canopies installed. I told them that a girl did it for me as a thank you present and they all jumped around like madmen. They thought it meant that I had a girlfriend that I’d never told them about, but I quickly shut that idea down. I just said that we’re best friends and that she wanted to show me how grateful she is for everything I do for her, and that they should try being nice to girls for once without having any ulterior motive. They were kind of bewildered at that concept, but that’s why they don’t have close friends buying them insanely expensive thank you presents.

Now that my friend has done such a kind thing for me and had a canopy installed on my ute, I can use the money I was saving to start upgrading my second-hand ute. It’s not the best car going around, but it’ll be good once I add everything that needs to be added to it. The first upgrade I’m going to make to my second-hand truck is to add a ute toolbox. In the Melbourne area, there aren’t many jobs a tradie can do properly without having all their tools with them, so I need a toolbox on my ute at the very minimum.

It makes sense to start with the basics and work my way up. Now that my new ute is fully upgraded thanks to my friend, it’s time to start upgrading my second.
